Volunteering at the Community Garden

Mission Norman’s community garden is an important part of the Mission. Fresh vegetables are a nutritional source of food and would benefit food recipients’ diets.

For a community garden to be a community garden, it needs to involve the community. Mission Norman welcomes anyone interested in gardening or helping feed the needy to participate in its garden.

As with all of Mission Norman’s efforts, the community garden is to glorify the LORD Jesus Christ and to spread His love to all we come into contact with. You do not have to be a Christian to work in the garden (or at Mission Norman), but we use our work to serve and give glory to GOD.

The Mission has regular gardening hours at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Anyone is welcome to participate in the garden. If you want to work at other hours or do a group project, you may contact Bruce Brown, the head gardener, or Gene Barnes, the Mission’s director, at 405-321-8880. One of these men will let you know when someone can help you work in the garden and what needs to be done.
