Sarah’s Story

Sarah (name changed) is a young girl of nine who lives at Glen Oaks. She has been a faithful attendee of Mission Norman’s after-school program and Sunday Bible study since they began. While she has a home and food, her mental, emotional, relational, financial and spiritual needs abound. Sarah lives with her loving grandma, two aunts and five other children in a two-bedroom apartment. She sleeps on the living room floor. She sees her parents only on visits. Sarah often has a happy smile and a willing heart to learn about Jesus, but other times, she has angry outbursts during which she is completely unable to control her emotions. She has behavioral problems at school and struggles to do her homework. Most importantly, even though Sarah is growing in her understanding of what it means to follow Jesus and has heard the Gospel many times, she has never confessed that she has personally given her life to Jesus to any of the Mission Norman workers. We pray that she will soon give her life to Jesus. However, her lack of resources and the spiritual darkness in her school and community often seem to counteract any progress she makes in coming closer to Jesus.
